Double Happiness
Tom always felt wierd and different growing up the only Chinese in a white suburb of Boston. When he moves to San Francisco to stay with a distant cousin, he discovers himself to be quite at home. But he doesn't really fit in there either so he's screwed.
I wrote and drew Double Happiness after returning from a semester abroad in Singapore so it has a Singaporean/Malaysian flavor to it which works well for the book.
In September of 1999, Double Happiness won the Xeric Foundation Grant which I used to print 2500 copies.
