Today's the day! After over a half a year working closely with Interactive fiction legend, Andrew Plotkin, The Meanwhile ipad app is finally done! I've mentioned this before on my website, but we both worked really hard and I'm incredibly proud of the results.

Instead of just scanning in pages, we went with exploding the entire book onto one gigantic canvas that you can navigate in a very intuitive way. Anyway, check out some of the screenshots here and here!

After months of secrecy, I can finally tell the world... Meanwhile will soon be available as an ipad app!

It's the first time I've collaborated with another artist on a project and I'm incredibly proud of the results. The collaborator in this case is Andrew Plotkin, one of my favorite Interactive Fictio0n authors. Please, check out his work if you get a chance.

As a comics reader and an ipad owner, I've seen my share of comics apps and readers. And I have to say that this project is something completely unique and awesome.

Hope everyone can make it to the book launch of "Empire State" at The Escapist Comic Bookstore in Berkeley, May 12. Empire State has been over three years in the making and as a physical array of matter I feel it's my greatest achievement. The event should be an hour or so. I'll mostly be talking about how I made "Empire State", sharing some stories about riding the Greyhound, reading a bit from the book and then taking questions. For those who can't make it to the Escapist, I'll be having another reading at Books Inc in Alameda on May 17.

Empire State doesn't hit the shelves until next month but you can preorder a copy from amazon today. Simply holding it in my hands was one of my proudest moments as an author. From the colors by John Pham, to the wonderful production design to the secret message hidden in the end papers, it's just a wonderful physical object. It's also the furthest I've pushed myself in terms of doing something more character based and personal.
You can preorder a copy from amazon, but if you can do it, I'd recommend waiting until it comes out next month and supporting your local book store or ordering off indiebound

For those of you who missed the launch, I'll be giving a presentation about the making of "Meanwhile..." June 8, 7pm at A Good Great Place for Books. I'll be demonstrating various interactive comics I've made over the past 10 years and giving people a behind the scenes peek at the making of "Meanwhile" from flow chart to finished book.
And for the kiddies out there, I'll be leading a workshop at the Chinatown Branch Library Saturday July 17 as part of their summer reading program series of events. Learn how to make your very own unfolding interactive comic like "The Last Supper"!
