Phillip's Head is my very first comic book. It was actually the final project for a class I took at Berkeley called, "The Graphic Novel as Literature." It was the best class I ever took!

This is also the first comic that ever sold in stores. It was a huge thing, 11 x 17 folded in half. The store told me that the comic wouldn't even stand upright on the shelf unless I had a cardstock cover. I returned to the xerox store the next day... with a manilla folder cut into an 11 x 17 shape. After the fifth folder jammed the machine, I hastilly paid for my four copies and ran from the store never to be seen again. I managed to sell the four copies to the comic book store at cost. I came back the next week and all four copies were gone! I've been making and selling comic books ever since.
