"Bus Stop" was my foray into the newspaper strip world. Newspaper strips are a limiting form to work in. Essentially, I get four panels a week stretched out over a year. How can this be an effective
way to tell a narrative? It seems a lot of strips have given up on the idea of narrative and just used their space to set up and deliver a gag.
Something I set out to do with Bus Stop was to abandon the idea of gags altogether and write a detective story that unfolds incrementally over the course of one year. Unfortunately, the SF Examiner changed ownership three months into the run and promptly canceled the strip.
